Satalia shortlisted for two Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2026
London, UK, 24 August 2026 – Satalia, part of WPP and a global leader in AI and optimisation solutions, has been shortlisted in two categories at the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2026, recognising the company’s work helping leading retailers transform their supply chain operations through artificial intelligence.
Satalia has been shortlisted for The Food & Drink Supply Chain Excellence Award for its work with Waitrose and for The Supply Chain Operations Award – Logistics & Fulfilment for its work with DFS.
The Supply Chain Excellence Awards celebrate the organisations, teams and technologies driving innovation across the supply chain industry. Being recognised in two separate categories reflects Satalia’s commitment to delivering AI solutions that solve complex operational challenges and create measurable business impact.
Transforming online grocery delivery with Waitrose
Working in partnership with Waitrose, Satalia deployed an AI-powered delivery route optimisation platform to transform the supermarket chain’s home delivery network. The solution provides real-time optimisation, taking into account variables such as traffic conditions, vehicle capacity, and delivery time windows. This dynamic approach ensures resources are used efficiently, helping Waitrose maintain its high standards of service in an increasingly competitive retail landscape. Since implementing the solution across a network of 170 Waitrose shops offering online deliveries, two Customer Fulfilment Centres and a fleet of 1,400 vans, the retailer has achieved an 8% reduction in delivery mileage, a 12% increase in drops per route, and a 4 percentage point increase in customer delivery slot availability, while supporting thousands of home deliveries every week. These improvements have delivered measurable operational efficiencies while reducing emissions and enhancing the customer experience.
“By harnessing AI-powered technology, we can now offer customers more precise and convenient delivery times while significantly reducing our environmental impact. This is a brilliant example of how technology can help us deliver on our promises of both exceptional service and sustainability.” – Pav Kalia, Head of Change Delivery and Technology
Delivering smarter last-mile logistics with DFS
Satalia’s partnership with DFS has transformed the retailer’s last-mile delivery operation through an AI-powered routing and scheduling platform that intelligently plans delivery routes based on customer demand, vehicle availability and operational constraints. The solution has streamlined planning, improved driver experience and enabled a more flexible delivery service for customers.
The project has delivered significant business benefits, including an 18% increase in fuel efficiency, a 19% reduction in unexpected driver overtime, an 8% increase in Net Promoter Score (NPS) and the introduction of three-hour customer delivery windows, helping DFS improve both operational performance and customer satisfaction.
“It’s absolutely transformed the way that we work, the way that we operate and what we offer for customers.” – Sean Kavanagh, Operations Director, The Sofa Delivery Company
While each project addressed a unique operational challenge, both demonstrate the power of combining advanced AI with optimisation and a deep domain expertise. By working closely with customers to understand their operations, Satalia develops AI solutions that don’t just optimise processes, they deliver measurable business outcomes and create lasting value.
“We’re delighted to be recognised by the Supply Chain Excellence Awards alongside two fantastic customers,” said Daniel Hulme, CEO of Satalia.
“These nominations are a testament to what can be achieved when organisations combine ambitious thinking with AI and deep operational expertise. We’re incredibly proud of the work we’ve delivered with Waitrose and DFS, and of the talented teams whose collaboration has made this possible.”
The winners of the Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2026 will be announced in November 2026 in London.
